Support That Lasts
Recovery is easier with people around you
The strongest outcomes come from sustained support, not a single episode of care. Therapy happens in scheduled hours; life happens in all the others. Recovery mentoring and companioning fill those hours with structure, accountability, and a steady human presence, coordinated directly with your clinical team and customized around your life.
Mentoring is delivered through Heights Mentoring, our sister practice: private, discreet, clinician-informed recovery support for adults, young adults, families, executives, and high-visibility clients, in person across Houston and The Heights, in-home, virtually, and by travel companioning nationwide. Mentors are not therapists; they are trained recovery professionals who work alongside your clinicians, never instead of them.
Inside our Individualized Intensive Program, mentoring is woven into every phase, growing as clinical intensity steps down so the handoff to everyday life is seamless. It can also be added to PHP, IOP, weekly therapy, or stand alone as concierge recovery support after treatment anywhere.

Our Approach
Clinician-informed, never clinical theater
Mentoring does not diagnose, treat, or replace therapy; it makes therapy hold. Mentors coordinate with your clinicians with your written authorization, respect your privacy absolutely, and meet you in the real settings where recovery is actually won: your home, your workweek, your travel, your relationships. We are honest about cost up front, and every arrangement is customized around you.

Common Questions
Mentoring & recovery support, answered
If you do not see your question here, call our admissions team at (877) 549-5102 and we will walk you through it.
What is recovery mentoring?
One-on-one, real-world recovery support from a trained recovery professional: accountability, structure, routine building, and practice of the skills you learn in therapy, delivered in daily life rather than an office. It is coordinated with your clinical team and customized around you.
What is the difference between a mentor and a therapist?
Therapists diagnose and treat; mentors support and reinforce. Your therapist works on why the pattern exists; your mentor helps you live differently between sessions. The two coordinate, with your authorization, so nothing falls through the gap.
What is sober companioning?
A higher-presence form of support: a recovery professional alongside you for travel, events, transitions, or high-risk windows, with complete discretion. Companioning is common for executives, high-visibility clients, and the weeks right after residential treatment.
Is mentoring part of treatment at Heights Behavioral Health?
It is woven into every phase of our Individualized Intensive Program and can be added to PHP, IOP, or weekly therapy. It is delivered through Heights Mentoring, our sister practice, and coordinated with your clinicians.
Can I use mentoring if I was treated somewhere else?
Yes. Many clients come to mentoring after residential treatment or therapy elsewhere. We coordinate with your existing providers when you authorize it, and simply provide the real-world support layer most programs never build.
How often does mentoring happen?
Cadence is customized: daily check-ins early on, a few meetings per week as stability builds, or full-day companioning when circumstances call for it. Support steps down as your footing strengthens.
Is mentoring confidential?
Completely. Discretion is foundational to the practice, especially for professional and high-visibility clients, and information is shared with clinicians or family only with your written authorization.
How does payment work for mentoring?
Mentoring and companioning are private-pay concierge services. We explain pricing clearly before you commit, and superbills are available where clinical services apply.
